Snook, Redfish and Tarpon. Fly fishing Charters and Spin fishing

February 2017 Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Fishing Report

It has been a great start to the year so far. For the most part Temperatures have been mild making some very pleasant days out there. The Sea Trout bite has picked up on the flats on higher tides and the deeper holes of the backcountry. Jigs tipped with shrimp are working well for the Sea Trout and we have been getting a few Pompano as well. The Snook fishing has slowed but still getting a couple in the back bays. The Redfish bite has been okay on the higher tides but most fish have been running small lately @ 17″ but getting a few bigger ones if we put the time in. I have been finding some better fish in the skinny water on my Dolphin flats boat with some Fly Anglers. Its purely sight fishing and it can be slow at times until you find them. I call it Hunting and when you do find them you have to be able to make the cast without spooking the fish.

My Season is getting booked up especially March, April, and May so give me a call soon if you plan on going out with me.

I still have plenty of openings in June which can be the best Month for Snook and Tarpon.

Here are some recent fish pics.

January 2016

Wow I cant believe we are already into mid January. I want to thank all my repeat clients and the many new ones that have fished with me last year. There was some great fishing and some really tough fishing but we always have fun and fish hard.

Lat year March was cold and windy making for some tough days but When April arrived it got calm and warm. April had some of the best Tarpon days of the year for 2015. Massive numbers of fished moved into the islands and made for some great action on big fish.  May had decent numbers of Snook and some really big fish caught. Tarpon seemed to slow from the numbers seen in April but we still had a decent amount of fish to target.

The Snook bite last year had been the best I have seen since the freeze of 2010. The average size of the fish are up and have returned to many spots they disappeared from since the freeze. I think this Spring is going to be a great year for Snook numbers.

The fall through December of 2015 was incredible. December had good numbers of Tarpon still around and some great nearshore fishing for Kingfish and False Albacore.

Now we are into January of the New Year and the weather has been very cold and windy. The best fishing has been the warm up days in between cold fronts. Yesterday I fly fished with Russ starting mid morning and fished late into the afternoon. We had a great day sight fishing Redfish in cold clear water and even had a nice bonus Snook to top it off. The winter is my favorite time of year to sight fish with the fly Rod.

For the spin fishing, the main targets have been Sea Trout, Pompano, Redfish, Sheephead and Black drum. Jigs tipped with Shrimp are the old standby fishing close to the bottom with slower presentations. When the water is in the low to mid 60's the fish are not chasing anything down. They want an easy meal right in front of them.

I look forward to this season and hope to be able to put YOU on some fish.

January 2015

Happy New Year! I look forward to this Season to see all our regular repeats and new anglers for some new fishing adventures.  2014 ended with some great catches and near perfect weather for our charters. Naples, Marco and the 10,000 islands have been warm and calm.

The fishing has been good, not great but still many fish were caught, released, lost and kept. Today is another chamber of commerce day with temps in the low 80's. Snook are still biting and there are Tarpon around due to the warm water temps.

This looks to be an extremely busy season coming up so If you want to book a fishing trip this year with me please plan ahead so you don't miss out. Taking the family and kids are some of the most memorable trips you will have as a family. I hear it all the time that the fishing trip was the highlight of the vacation.

Happy new year to all of you and I look forward to having you aboard in 2015

October 2015 Fishing report for Naples, Marco Island and the Ten thousand Islands

October 2015

Fall fishing is in full swing around Southwest Florida and without a doubt my favorite time of the year to fish. From Naples, Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands there are large amounts of bait fish and this is why there are so many fish around right now. The Redfish and Snook seem to be everywhere most days on the higher tides. I have been using live bait and Berkely Gulp White 3" shrimp tails rigged on a 1/4 0z jig head. When we start getting bites every cast on the bait I have been switching to the Gulps. Also there are Jacks, Sea trout, Mackerel and Sharks mixed into the bait pods. Tarpon have slowed for me but I have not put much time in looking for them with all the other action going on. We should have Tarpon around for the next few months though. I like focusing on the big mullet schools to find them. The Fly fishing has been great also. Its just an awesome time of year to catch allot of fish
